Pseudo-melanistic Tiger

Length: 1.8 - 2.4m?

Location: Sightings in India, one cub in Oklahoma Zoo also exhibited this mutation

Diet: Carnivorous

Description: Orange base coat with black striping and white underbelly and inner legs. Stripes are usually very bunched and broad creating a more solid black colour along the back, head, sides and legs

Facts: A Pseudo-melanistic cub in Oklahoma was rejected by its mother and subsequently died. Its body was preserved in formalin. The argument is whether or not it would have attained normal colouration by adulthood or kept its dark mutated state

In India 1992, a pelt was taken from a smuggler and put into the Natural History Museum in New Delhi

Pseudo-melanistic tigers seem to be smaller than the normal orange tiger.
