TIGER MUTATIONS - Maltese Tiger

Artists impression

Maltese Tiger

Other names: Blue Tiger

Length: 1.8 - 2.4m?

Sightings: Mainly all in the Fujian province of China, some recently in areas of Korea

Description: Reports state that the Maltese Tiger has a blue-grey base colour (much like the blue/grey hue that some cat breeds exhibit), white patching and black or grey stripes. This colour mutation could be caused by two genes, the dilute gene and the non-agouti gene

Facts: There are no specimens of this mutation in captivity, and no pelts or photographs exist. The Maltese Tiger is based on eye-witness accounts by people such as Harry R Caldwell

Possible subspecies for this mutation would be the South China Tiger and the Siberian Tiger.
